Jesus Cares: A Note to Children’s Ministry Leaders Following Texas Floods
A special message to our friends in ministry as we grieve the aftermath of flooding in Texas and lives lost at Camp Mystic. We trust that Jesus cares.
Here at Group, we love kids, and we know you do, too. Together, our hearts break with the devastating news of flooding in Texas and the tragedy of children’s lives lost. We pray and hope and try to trust. This sadness adds to our ever-growing concern for children and their families across the United States and the world.
It’s so much, friends. Feeling sad and helpless, we pray:
“Comfort our troubled souls, Oh Lord, with peace that goes beyond our understanding.”
As a shepherd for God’s kids and their families, your soul may be feeling more than a little troubled. I know mine does.
And so, let’s turn to the God of all comfort and remember the truths we’ve taught children about God. Remember the lessons you’ve taught lately, and the Bible Points the Holy Spirit may bring to kids’ minds when they need them the most. Truths like…
Jesus cares.
“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest’ ” (Matthew 11:28).
Jesus loves children.
“Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children” (Mark 10:14).
Jesus gives us hope.
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” (Isaiah 40:31).
Friends in ministry, what you’ve taught kids about God is still true. As you take next steps, may Jesus give you hope to carry on. Children and their families really need you, and your work matters. More than ever, we’re thankful for what you do to help children and their families grow in relationship with Jesus. May God’s faithful love be near.
