Transition Time Game for Nursery and Preschool: Wiggle It Out
Need a transition time game to move from active learning to sitting and listening? Try this Wiggle It Out chant with accompanying motions.
We love high energy, active learning opportunities for kids. But, from time to time, it can be a challenge to have the littlest learners in our classrooms transition from active learning to sitting and listening to your lesson. This activity was specially designed to help nursery and preschool kids make a smooth transition.
Transition Time Game for Nursery and Preschool: Wiggle It Out
God made me to jump and shout. (Instruct kids to jump up high.)
God made me to move about. (Instruct kids to wiggle their hips.)
God made me to wiggle around. (Instruct kids to wave their arms and turn in a circle.)
But God helps me to sit right down. (Help kids sit cross-legged and fold their hands in lap.)
Extra rambunctious class? Repeat the first three lines until all the wiggles are out, or try adding in your own lines and accompanying moves. Once your class is ready, end your transition time with the final line and encourage children to quiet down as they sit cross-legged.
