Fall Family Ministry Outreach: Pastor Encouragement Idea
Check out this fall family ministry outreach idea! Celebrate Pastor Appreciation Month in October by leading this pastor encouragement activity.
Prepare for the Family Ministry Outreach
You’ll Need:
*If you don’t have a lot of boxes handy, consider using cardboard blocks from your nursery or preschool area. Simply tape paper onto the blocks for families to write on.
Encourage Families With This Family Devotion
Lead this brief devotion with families before decorating boxes.
Say: Happy fall! During this season, there are a lot of reasons to encourage people and let them know how awesome they are. Plus, in October, we celebrate Pastor Appreciation Month! It’s the perfect time to cheer up and cheer on [your pastor’s name].
God can work through us to encourage others. When we give encouragement a try, we’ll be amazed at how God works through us to cheer people on!
Listen to this Bible verse about encouragement.
Read aloud 1 Thessalonians 5:11.
Pray: Dear God thank you that you invite us to be part of the way you encourage others. May the words we speak build people up. Amen.
Encourage Your Pastor Through a Family Ministry Outreach
Share the following instructions about this fall family ministry outreach:
- Give each family a cardboard box and marker.
- Kids and families can write short, encouraging messages to your pastor on the box.
- Choose an area in your church. It could be outside the pastor’s office, in an entryway, or onstage! Have families work together to build a tower with the boxes in that spot. Write 1 Thessalonians 5:11 on one of the boxes. Be sure encouraging messages are showing!
- Show your pastor the boxes! You could even capture a photo of the pastor with the tower to send to families.
If your church has more than one pastor, create a tower of encouragement for each one!
