Children’s Ministry Volunteer Devotion: What We Offer

Use this quick devotion to remind volunteers that God can do miracles with what they offer kids each week even when it doesn’t feel like a lot.

Scripture: Matthew 14:13-21

You’ll need:

  • a piece of bread
  • a Bible

Children’s Ministry Volunteer Devotion: What We Offer

For this devotion, have volunteers find a partner.

Ask:

  • When have you felt too drained or distracted to serve kids in our ministry?
  • What did you do?

Say: We all occasionally feel like we have nothing to give — but God can do miracles with whatever we offer.

Hold up the piece of bread, then break off a small portion.

Ask:

  • How could this one little piece of bread feed us all?

Say: Let’s see if it will.

Instruct your volunteers to take a bit of bread and then pass it on so that everyone in the room gets a piece for this devotion. When the bread has made it around the room, read aloud Matthew 14:13-21.

Say: I know sometimes you may feel as though you have nothing to give the kids you serve. But what you offer each week is incredibly valuable. Everything you do for kids at church, big or small, makes a tremendous difference in their lives. God does miraculous things with whatever you give.
