Simple Last-Minute Activity: Soldier On

In this last-minute activity, kids race across the room wearing imaginary armor as they explore being strong in God.

This game helps kids explore Ephesians 6:10-18 with the Bible story: God’s armor gives us strength.

Last-Minute Activity: Soldier On

Say: God is strong, and we’re strong in him. God gives us armor to wear. Let’s wear it as we race across the room.

• Have kids line up along a wall. Explain that you’ll call out a piece of armor, and kids will wear that armor by placing their hands in the corresponding place.
• Demonstrate each piece of armor:
  • belt of truth—hands on hips
  • body armor of God’s righteousness—hands on chest
  • shoes of peace—touch your toes
  • shield of faith—hands out in front of you like a stop sign
  • helmet of salvation—hands on head
  • sword of the Spirit (the word of God) —run while swinging arms as if wielding a sword
• When you call out the armor, kids will assume the pose and then race across the room. (Demonstrate each piece as a reminder when you call it out.)
• Repeat the game with a new piece of armor.
• Let the game keep going as long as needed to fill time until parents begin to arrive. For a twist, call out two pieces of armor and have kids put one hand in each place.
