Preteen Ministry Bible Game: The Tower of Babel
You can play this Tower of Babel Bible game in teams or as an entire group. Have children work together to form a human tower using their bodies. The goal is to see how high their human tower can reach. Once they’ve reached as high as they possibly can, have the top child make a chalk mark or stick their sticky note.
After children make their first mark, have them sit down and plan together before their second try. Give them several chances to keep going higher.
Important safety notes! Provide adult volunteers as spotters. Before you begin, ensure the preteens understand that these adult spotters may say pause for safety reasons at any time. The preteens should be ready to follow this instruction.
Talk About It
Read aloud Genesis 11:1-9 to learn about the Tower of Babel story in the Bible.
Ask children:
- How did you feel as you built your tower?
- How do you think the people of Babel felt as they built their tower?
- What are the similarities between our tower and the Tower of Babel? the differences?
- Why do you think God was so displeased about the Tower of Babel?
- Do you think God was pleased or displeased with our ladder? Explain.
- Why does God care about the reasons behind what we do?
