2 Age-Appropriate Recipes for Elementary Classes
Puppy Chow-Elementary Recipe
Ingredients
- 9 cups crispy rice cereal squares
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
Directions to Make Puppy Chow
In a saucepan over low heat, melt the chocolate; add peanut butter and mix until smooth. Remove from heat, add cereal and stir until coated. Pour powdered sugar into large plastic bag, add coated cereal and shake until well coated. Store in an airtight container.

Haystacks Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 tbsp butter
- 2 cups chow mein noodles
Directions to Make Haystacks
Line a baking sheet with waxed paper.
First, place chocolate chips and butter in a microwave-safe container. Then heat on 50% power for 1 minute. Stir, and repeat, if necessary, until chocolate is melted. Add chow mein noodles to chocolate mixture, and stir until well-coated. Spoon tablespoonsful of the mixture onto prepared baking sheet. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm.
