3 Simple Ideas for Keeping in Touch With Kids Over the Summer
Summertime means vacations, relaxation, special activities, and company — it also means kids miss church more than usual. Use these ideas to keep in touch with your kids over the summer months.
3 Simple Ideas for Keeping in Touch With Kids Over the Summer
1. Summer Lunch Bunch
Plan several dates over the summer to get together with the kids in your class for lunch at a local park. Have kids bring sack lunches and give them reminder phone calls one week prior to each date. This is a super special way to keep in touch!
2. Keeping in Touch on the Go
Try keeping in touch through a traveling mascot! At summer’s beginning introduce kids to a stuffed animal class mascot. When kids leave for family vacations, send the mascot to travel with the family. Include a travel journal and encourage kids to write about the mascot’s adventures. Have kids report on their travel adventures when they return.
3. Call Me
Help kids keep in touch by giving kids a summer calendar and highlight dates for them to call or email you. Include a silly purpose for each call, such as “Call me and tell me what you had for breakfast today” or “Email me your top 10 places to get soaked this summer.” When kids call or email remind them about upcoming Sunday services or special events at your church.
