Jesus Saves Us: Free and Fun Easter Bible Lesson Ideas

Need some easy Easter ideas for kids at your church? Look no further! Here is a free, flexible Bible lesson that playfully (and effectively) teaches that Jesus saves us!

Simply gather:

  • pool noodle rings (pool noodles sliced into 1- to 2-inch-thick rings)
  • wooden craft sticks
  • a Bible
  • a table

Young hearts and minds will find something to love about this simple and active way to share the good news of Jesus with kids of all ages this Easter. Ease kids into their Easter Bible discoveries with relaxed, relationship-building play.

Play “Lava!”

Easy Instructions: Place pool noodle rings on the floor. Move from ring to ring, trying not to touch the floor.

Ask: What was it like to move around the room on such small circles?

Say: If the floor really was lava, the pool noodle pieces would have saved you from ouchy feet! Today we’ll hear a Bible verse that tells how people can be saved from sin that hurts our world and our hearts. We’ll discover that Jesus saves us.

Play Drum Band

Easy Instructions: Find something to drum on. It could be a table, a chair, or your lap! Choose one person to be the band director. They will make up rhythms for everyone else to repeat.

Ask: If you were leading musicians, what song would you choose to lead?

Say: Today we’ll hear a Bible verse that says Jesus is Lord. A “lord” is someone who is in charge of people—kind of like how band directors are in charge of people who make music. The musical choices belong to the “lord of the music.” Jesus saves us—the whole world, and “Lord Jesus” is in charge of everything!

Play Foosball

Easy Instructions: Play a game like foosball as you stand around a table. Form teams and assign goals. Gently hit a pool noodle ring with wooden craft sticks, trying to score. Choose two “goalies” to stand at the ends of the table and protect their teams’ goal.

Ask: Tell about a soccer game you saw or played in. What was it like to keep the other team from scoring?

Say: In soccer or foosball, goalies make “saves” when they stop the other team from scoring and winning. Jesus saves us because he stops sin from being in charge of our lives. Jesus saves us!

Explore Romans 10:9

Read aloud Romans 10:9 from a kid-friendly Bible.

Say: Through Jesus, all people can become part of God’s family. It doesn’t matter what your first name is or what your last name is. When you believe in Jesus Christ and trust him to forgive your sin, you get Jesus’ name: Christian!

Let’s create some actions to do as we say Romans 10:9 all together. Rather than me telling you what to do, you kids can create the actions for us. You’re in charge!

Invite kids to work together to make up actions for these words:

  • openly declare
  • Jesus is Lord
  • believe in your heart
  • raised from the dead
  • you will be saved

Say Romans 10:9 together with actions:

“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

Say: Jesus saves us. No matter what you do, friends, you are worth saving. Jesus loves you and forgives you.

Take some time to affirm kids by name, saying: [Child’s name], Jesus loves and saves you.

These fun and kid-friendly ideas are part of an all-new lesson from All Together Sunday School Book 1. All Together Sunday School™ gives you a fresh way to help kids of all ages hear from God through his Word. In each lesson, kids explore one key Bible verse—as they play! These Bible lessons, geared for ages 4-12, work any time you have kids of all ages in one room. They’re perfect for Sunday school, children’s church, midweek programs, or any time kids of all ages gather to explore the Bible and grow in friendship with Jesus.
