Father’s Day Craft for Elementary Kids: Bearing Fruit

In this Father’s Day craft, kids make encouraging cards for their dads and other male caregivers.

Scripture: Galatians 5:22-23

You’ll need:

  • Bible
  • packets of fruit or vegetable seeds
  • construction paper
  • markers
  • glue

Father’s Day Craft: Bearing Fruit

Give each child a packet of fruit or vegetable seeds and a sheet of construction paper. Ask a child to read aloud Galatians 5:22-23 about the fruit of the Spirit. Talk about these Scriptures as the children fold their papers in half to make cards.

On the front page of the cards, kids can write, “Dad, you plant the seeds…” Inside the cards on the right-hand side, have children glue their seed packets and write, “…that’ll help me bear fruit for Jesus.”

On the inside left-hand page of each card, have kids write the words from Galatians 5:22-23. Then have kids sign their cards. Dads and other male caregivers will treasure these encouraging cards.

For extra impact:

  • Tape the seed packets to the cards instead of gluing them, and encourage kids to plant the seeds at home with their dads, male figures, and other caregivers.
  • Let kids make a colorful classroom bulletin board. Write, “We plant seeds for Jesus,” and decorate with seed packets and construction-paper flowers. For added pizzazz, glue a picture of each child in the center of each flower.
  • Read aloud Galatians 5:22-23. Let kids choose one fruit of the Spirit and share one way they can show that quality to others.
