Elementary and Preschool Easter Activity: Chocolate Egg Hunt

This elementary and preschool Easter idea, Chocolate Egg Hunt, combines chocolate and a special surprise that helps kids focus on the real meaning of Easter.

Elementary and Preschool Easter Activity: Chocolate Egg Hunt

Hide hollow chocolate eggs instead of plastic or real eggs. (Note: make sure your egg hunt takes place in a mild climate area. Don’t hide the eggs near any heating units.)

Make sure there are enough eggs for each child to have one, and limit the hunt to one egg per child. Help any child that is having trouble finding an egg. Then gather the children and tell them that before they unwrap or eat their eggs, they need to know that each egg holds a special message just for them.

Count to three and have children each bite or break their egg at the same time. As the children discover that the eggs are hollow, remind them of Christ’s empty tomb. Close the activity by having children tell what Jesus’ resurrection means to them.
