5 Instant Games that Are Fun for Everyone
1. Two By Two
Instant Game Supplies:
Have kids form pairs and slip a rubber band over each pair’s ankles and wrists so that they are “tied” together. Have pairs race around the room, trying to be the first to make it around your room ten times without either rubber band breaking.
2. Big Shoes
Instant Game Supplies:
- 2 pairs of adult shoes,
- plastic bags
Ask two of your adult volunteers to shed their shoes. (Males will work best as they’re likely to have larger shoes.) Form two even teams. Designate a start and finish line for each team, and set the shoes at the start line. Have teams line up, relay fashion behind the start line. Players will take turns removing their shoes, putting on the pair of adult shoes, and racing to the finish line and back. For sanitary purposes, give each child a plastic bag to cover his or her feet before putting them in the shoes. The object is to be the first team to have all players complete the relay.
3. Cereal Counter
Instant Game Supplies:
- Cheerios or another snack item,
- table or paper
Line participants side-by-side in front of tables. If you don’t have tables, hand out pieces of paper for kids to place their food on. Give each player some Cheerios or other small snack item. Kids will race to build the longest line of Cheerios in the time allotted. They must start with a line of 1, then make a second line with 2 Cheerios, and so on, building each line one longer than the previous one.
4. Flip the Stirrer
Instant Game Supplies:
- coffee stirrers,
- coffee cups
Line participants side-by-side. Set a coffee cup on about 5 feet from each player. Spread out coffee stirrers. Players will try to”flip” or toss the most stirrers into the cup. If it’s too hard or too easy, adjust the distance of the cup.
5. Tissue Toss
Instant Game Supplies:
- tissues, paper towels or napkins for every two players.
Have kids forms pairs. Give each pair some tissues, paper towels, or napkins. Have pairs choose who’ll be the catcher and the pitcher. Tell partners to stand two feet apart and face each other. On go, the pitcher tosses a paper product to the catcher. The catcher catches the tissue and continues holding it in that hand while catching the next tissue. Pairs will try to successfully make the most catches and hold on to them in the allotted time.
