How to Make Easter 2021 Memorable and COVID-Friendly

Easter 2021 is around the corner… Here are a few ideas to help make it impactful!

By now, we’re all familiar with the challenges COVID-19 presents to the church’s big events. In fact, this is already our second Easter that will look different due to the pandemic.

We know that it’s stressful. It’s stressful to try and plan yet another major holiday around the restrictions of COVID. It’s stressful to feel like you’re missing out on a major outreach opportunity. And it’s stressful to keep making adjustments to your plans, week after week after week.

But, if we’ve learned anything over the past year, it’s that (1) God’s reach isn’t limited to just inside of our buildings and that (2) flexibility is key to making memorable celebrations.

So, instead of giving in to feelings of anxiety or being overwhelmed, we have a few small suggestions that can help your ministry keep going strong while hosting successful and meaningful Easter celebrations.

A. Admit to yourself Easter is likely going to be different this year.

B. Acknowledge that different doesn’t have to mean bad.

C. Shift your focus from “What you can’t do” to “What you CAN do!” Plus, remember that you’ve done this before, and you can do this again!

And to help you continue reaching and shepherding kids and families this Easter, here are a few ideas to make this season particularly impactful. (Psst… All the resources below contain COVID-friendly options…just to make things a little easier.)

1. Focus on creating experiences for your ministry and let us handle the planning for you.

Despite our hopes, 2021 still might not be the year to put on an extravagant Easter program that packs your church from wall-to-wall. However, it is still possible to host a meaningful Easter event for your kids and families—without having to spend weeks planning!

Whether you are meeting in smaller, socially distanced groups or opting for an online event, Group has you covered with Easter Event Kits that make it easy to help families celebrate to glorious meaning of Easter.

Each event kit is created to maximize impact while minimizing stress during this very challenging season. AND each event kit also includes access to COVID-friendly modifications and special permissions to help adapt your event to any situation.

2. Keep it simple and center your lessons on Jesus.

Just like the first Easter, things do not have to be big, flashy, or even fancy to be meaningful. The same can be true with Sunday school lessons this Easter.

With the Simply Loved Holiday Year 1 pack, you’ll receive two BRAND-NEW engaging and memorable Easter Sunday school lessons built to keep things “Simple” while showing God’s greatest gift. And to help with today’s challenges, we’ve provided written tips and videos to help adapt each Holiday lesson for social-distancing or online/at-home lessons.

PLUS, the Simply Loved Holiday pack also includes two Christmas lessons so you can keep the fun going all year round.

3. Partner with parents and equip them to celebrate Easter at home.

One of the brightest ministry opportunities you have this season is to equip families as they celebrate Jesus’ resurrection together, at home. Here are a couple resources to help:

A Complete, At-Home Easter Lesson for Families: This Easter Sunday school lesson teaches kids that Jesus came back to life so we can live forever. Pick and choose the sections to create the perfect lesson for families.

FREE Download: Easter Family Activities: If our last COVID Easter taught us anything, it’s the importance of family-led celebrations. We’ve put together a packet of ideas to help you encourage the families in your church this Easter!

Lifetree Kids’ Easter Songs + Videos Playlist: This YouTube playlist has songs to help families celebrate Jesus’ resurrection. It also includes ideas for Easter snacks, crafts and a telling of the Easter story from the Friends With God Story Bible.

As we said above, Easter 2021 is going to be different but not bad. You and your ministry can do this, and we’re excited to help you every step of the way! Please know that Group is here for you and praying for your Easter 2021 celebrations.
