Valentine’s Day Keepsake Craft Your Preschoolers Will Love!
Try this Valentine’s Day keepsake craft with your preschool students! It’s cheap, easy, and great for kids ages 3 to 5.
You’ll need:
- a pink or white lunch bag
- a 12-inch pipe cleaner
- a 3-inch-round paper doily
- a love-themed sticker (like this one!)
- a red or pink marker
- scissors
- glue
- cellophane tape
Preschool Valentine’s Day Craft
Before you begin giving craft instructions, remind preschoolers how much Jesus loves them! Read 1 John 3:16 from a kid-friendly Bible (like this one). Ask:
- What are some ways God shows you that he loves you?
- What are some ways you can show God’s love to your friends? your family?
Say: One way we can show we love others is by writing kind words to them. And during Valentine’s Day, people might write kind notes to you to show you they care. Let’s make a keepsake bag where you can store these kind words that people write to you.
Have your preschoolers follow these directions to make their Valentine’s Day keepsake craft:
- Keep the bag closed and cut off the folded section of the bag bottom.
- Use a marker to color the edges of the doily and paper bag.
- Fold up 2 inches of the bottom of the bag and crease in place.
- Use the sticker to attach the folded section to the bag.
- Cut out the doily center and position the opening around the sticker.
- Glue in place.
- Tape the pipe cleaner handle between the folded bag edges at the top opening of the bag. Tape the bag’s side openings closed.
- Write “Jesus loves [child’s name]” at the bottom of the bag.
- Place valentine goodies and messages in the bag.
