Back-to-School Intergenerational Children’s Message
As kids prepare to go back-to-school, use this fun children’s message (8-10 minutes) to help kids transition back into a school-year mentality.
Back-to-School Intergenerational Children’s Message
Invite all kids who are comfortable to join you up front.
Say: It’s almost time for school again! Who’s excited to go back?
School days are full of exploring, discovering, learning, and some playtime too! Who loves recess?! Pause to let kids respond. Let’s do some discovering now. I wonder what it takes to be a successful student. Let’s find out from everyone here.
On “go,” pick a grown-up in the room and ask them these two questions:
- What was your favorite part of school?
- What’s one secret to being a successful student?
After you ask these two questions, come back to me.
Repeat the questions and send kids off.
When kids return, ask them to tell what they discovered. Ask:
- What are some surprising things you found out about being a successful student?
- What tips did you hear that you’ll try this year?
- What are your favorite things about learning?
Let’s see what God says about learning and growing.
Read Proverbs 1:5.
Say: With God as our patient teacher, we’ll make exciting and important discoveries through our entire lives. We never stop learning and that’s a good thing!
Let’s pray.
Pray: God, thank you for giving us schools and teachers where we can learn and grow. May we rely on you to help us each and every day. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
As kids pack their backpacks for the school year, don’t let them forget the most important supply! Equip kids in your ministry with an easy-to-understand, kid-friendly Bible by giving them the Hands-On Bible. Your kids won’t just read the Bible; they’ll experience and ENJOY it!
