Jesus Is Alive!
Make an Angel
Say: After Jesus died, his friends went to the tomb where he was buried. But they were so confused. Jesus’ body wasn’t there! Where could he be? An angel from heaven was there. The Bible says the angel’s face was as bright as lightning and his clothes were as white as snow. Wow! The angel told Jesus’ friends, “He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead!” Then the angel told Jesus’ friends to tell everyone the good news that Jesus is alive now!
Show children the sample craft.
Say: Let’s make an angel craft to remember the good news that the angel shared. We can use our craft to share that Jesus is alive now with other people, too.
Show children how to use the craft as a megaphone by putting the bottom of the tube up to your lips and shouting, “Jesus is alive now!”
Give each child a piece of white card stock, and help kids each roll it into a tube and tape the outside edge of the card stock in place. Kids can then use markers to draw a smiley face on one end of the tube.
Next, help children fold a coffee filter in half and tape the coffee filter to the back of the tube to create angel wings.
To create a halo, help children loop one end of a section of chenille wire into a circle and then tape the other end of the wire to the back of the paper tube.
Finally, kids can lay the angel on a paper plate and add thin lines of washable glue to the coffee filter wings and the tube. Once children have created lines of glue, help them gently shake glitter over the glue.
Share the Good News!
Allow the angel megaphones to dry completely; then help children shake off the excess glitter onto the paper plates. Let children use their megaphones to shout that Jesus is alive now!
