Simple Nursery Mirror Game to Build Friendships: I See a Friend

Try this simple game to help toddlers recognize and attach names to the other friends in their nursery room. This activity will work best with kids ages 0 to 2.

Nursery Game: I See a Friend

You’ll need:
  • full-length mirror
  • hooks to securely fasten mirror to the wall
Play the Game

Securely fasten a full-length mirror horizontally to a classroom wall, six inches from the floor. Have babies and toddlers sit in front of the mirror to see a reflection of themselves and their nursery friends.

Say: I see Charlie—do you see Charlie? Or point and say: Here’s Alexis!

Little ones will enjoy seeing themselves and learn to recognize and attach names to other children in the nursery. You can also play this game using a name song instead of just saying the child’s name.
