In this preteen craft, kids make fun conversation starters as a way to tell others about Jesus.

Preteen Craft: Praise Pinwheels

Supplies:

• construction paper
• scissors
• straight pins
• beads
• pencils

Give each child a sheet of construction paper and scissors. Have kids cut off 2½ inches from the short side of the paper. Have kids cut the paper from each corner toward the center, leaving about ½ inch uncut in the middle. Pull every other outer point into the middle and push a straight pin through the center to hold the paper points in the middle. Put a bead on the pin behind the paper wheel, then push the pin into the eraser on a long pencil.

Say: One of the most exciting things about being friends with Jesus is telling others about him.

Ask: Who can you tell about Jesus?

What would you be most excited to tell these people about Jesus?

Encourage kids to give their pinwheels to the people they’ve identified as a way of starting up a conversation about Jesus.

For Extra Impact

• Read aloud Psalm 9:1, and have kids tell wonderful things God has done in their lives.
• Teach kids the words to this rhyming prayer:

I praise you, God, with all my heart, for all that you have done.

I sing your praises here and there as I tell everyone.

• Have kids write the words of Psalm 9:1 on a tag and attach it to their pinwheel with string as a reminder to praise the Lord.
