Preschool Activity: Blessed Children Dance!
In this fun activity, teach preschoolers about Jesus’ love for them as they move their bodies and dance!
Scripture: Mark 10:13-16
Encourage free expression of movement as you finish each stanza of this story. Have music with a variety of styles on hand. Play it low in the background, raising the volume to cue the children to move to the music! Lower it again as their cue to freeze. Have a lot of fun with this activity by varying the pace of the last line, building anticipation for movement!
Parents brought their children (walk around the room pantomiming holding hands)
To sit in Jesus’ lap. (pantomime picking up a child and lifting him or her up to Jesus)
Jesus loves the children,
And it makes me want to dance! (allow for free movement)
The disciples got too grumpy, (make a grouchy face)
But Jesus set them straight. (stand up very straight and still)
Jesus loves the children,
And it makes me want to dance! (allow for free movement)
Jesus blessed the children (reach out and pantomime touching children’s heads)
With a touch and a word. (hold hands with a friend)
Jesus loves the children,
And it makes me want to dance! (allow for free movement with partners)
Although I sometimes wiggle (wiggle around)
Every time I get the chance, (wiggle around more)
I remember Jesus loves me— (stop and be still except for a tap on your temple)
And it makes me want to dance! (allow for free movement)
