Non-Toxic Playdough Recipe for Children’s Ministry Crafts
Make your own non-toxic playdough with this simple recipe that will be great for children’s crafts, playtime, and more. Simply follow the directions in this recipe, and create an incredible spectrum of fun colors to use with many children’s craft projects.
Playdough Table
Activities that are easy to reach and near the classroom door grab kids’ attention immediately when they first step into a Sunday school class. Near your classroom door, keep a playdough table that includes some of the following items:
- a batch of homemade playdough (see recipe below)
- cookie cutters
- rolling pins
- popsicle sticks
- blunt-end scissors
- feathers
- twigs
- dry macaroni
- other craft items
Watch kids’ excitement grow as they experiment with different accessories each week.
Non-Toxic Playdough Recipe
You’ll Need:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup salt
- 1 tablespoon alum
- 2 cups boiling water
- 3 tablespoons oil
- food coloring
Make the Playdough
- Mix together the flour, salt, and alum.
- Then add the boiling water, oil, and the desired food coloring.
- After ingredients are mixed, knead well for about four minutes.
- You can add a special treat by scenting the non-toxic playdough recipe with extracts of lavender or orange (but be mindful of allergies).
- Store the playdough in an airtight container.
