Non-Toxic Playdough Recipe for Children’s Ministry Crafts

Make your own non-toxic playdough with this simple recipe that will be great for children’s crafts, playtime, and more. Simply follow the directions in this recipe and create an incredible spectrum of fun colors to use with many children’s craft projects.

Playdough Table

Activities close at hand and by the door grab kids’ attention immediately when they enter the classroom. Keep a playdough table, including a batch of homemade playdough (see recipe below), cookie cutters, rolling pins, popsicle sticks, blunt-end scissors, feathers, twigs, dry macaroni, and other craft items near your classroom door. Watch kids’ excitement grow as they experiment with different accessories each week.

Non-Toxic Playdough Recipe

You’ll need:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 tablespoon alum
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • food coloring

Mix together the flour, salt, and alum. Then add the boiling water, oil, and the desired food coloring. After ingredients are mixed, knead well for about four minutes. You can add a special treat by scenting the non-toxic playdough recipe with extracts of lemon or peppermint (but be mindful of allergies). Store the playdough in an airtight container.
