Elementary and Preteen Bible Game: Love Tug-of-War
Use this Bible game with elementary and preteen kids to help them learn to share their faith through a classic game of Tug-of-War.
Elementary and Preteen Bible Game: Love Tug-of-War
You’ll Need:
- Rope,
- handkerchief, and
- a way to mark two lines.
First, tie a handkerchief in the middle of a Tug-of-War rope. Form evenly matched teams for pulling. Mark off two lines about 3 feet apart in the middle of your playing area.
As part of the object lesson, say: Pretend this handkerchief is someone who doesn’t know Jesus. He feels like his life is pulled in many directions, much like in a Tug-of-War. Read Proverbs 16:9.
Ask:
- How do you think it would feel to be pulled in many directions?
Have kids from your children’s ministry try to pull the handkerchief over to their team’s side. When one team has accomplished the goal, have them huddle to consider what they might say to the “handkerchief person” to share their faith in Jesus.
Play several rounds of Love Tug-of-War, making sure both teams have an opportunity to share. If one team consistently wins, mix up the teams to make them evener.
