Children’s Message: Don’t Hide Sin
The Bible tells us that we are all sinners and not to hide sin in our lives. Most children do not understand God’s grace. This short children’s message is designed to help elementary-aged children recognize the healing power of forgiveness.
Children’s Message: Don’t Hide Sin
Wrap masking tape around a rock and write “sin” on it. Have children take turns holding the “sin” rock. Then have all the other kids close their eyes while one child hides the rock.
Once hidden, tell the other kids to search for and find the sin rock. After three or four times, have kids sit in a circle.
Ask: What happened when we hid the rock?
Read aloud Numbers 32:23.
Ask: What does this verse mean? Have you ever had a sin discovered even though you tried to hide it? What happened? Does God want us to try to hide our sins? What does God want us to do when we’ve sinned?
Have a child read aloud 1 John 1:9 while you use a marker to blot out the word “sin” on the rock. Lead children in a prayer of thanks for God’s great forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
