Wings of Fire Series

The Scoop

Author Tui T. Sutherland is on a roll with her fantasy series Wings of Fire. Book 12 released this past December, and a graphic novel in the same series released in February. Book 13 is set to release in July. Each book is from the point of view of a young dragon from a different species, and much of the books’ plots involve a dragon school called Jade Mountain Academy. Good and evil are present in each novel, with war, magic, and plenty of adventurous drama.

Out Take on Wings of Fire

Parents who want to encourage their boys to read may find that the Wings of Fire series hooks their kids. There are positive messages and role models in the books. However, despite the recommended age range being 8 to 12 years, the evil aspect included in the storylines can become pretty dark and gruesome at times. Because of that, we recommend previewing the books or giving parents a heads-up.
