Touching Children’s Hearts Breakfast

We had a Valentine breakfast to honor our volunteers in February with the theme “Touching Children’s Hearts.”

We decorated the tables with red and pink tablecloths, lace doily place mats, red napkins, and red and pink crepe paper. We tied red, pink, and white balloons to the chairs and sprinkled red-hot heart candies all over the tables. Our centerpieces were red bags full of heart-shaped cakes, cookies, pretzels, and chocolates. We arranged these with red silk carnations and tied them with red, pink, and white bows.

We created place cards with large felt hearts cut out and glued like pockets onto white and pink card stock. We wrote volunteers’ names on their cards below the phrase, “With Heart-Felt Thanks.” In the heart pockets, we placed small bath cubes for women and gourmet chocolate hearts for men.

Our pastor helped us cook and serve breakfast burritos with all the fixings. We gave each volunteer a booklet full of information and inspiration, along with a mini clay pot sponged with Valentine colors and filled with Valentine candies. We also gave each volunteer a wooden heart pin or wooden heart magnet with our theme. We finished the morning by closing in prayer and letting our volunteers know that we love them.
