Here’s your latest Keeping Current movie review for November and December of 2018: The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.
The Scoop
This classic Christmas tale, reinvented for a featured motion picture by Disney, comes to theaters on November 2, 2018. After the main character, Clara, finds a special key, she’s able to open a box her late mother left her, and she enters into a mysterious parallel world where she’s a princess. If you’ve seen The Nutcracker ballet, then you have a good idea of what happens next, and you can expect some dancing in parts of the movie.
Our Take
Rated PG for some scary action sequences and peril, this Disney film has some darkness to it, but no more than in movies such as the 2017 version of Beauty and the Beast. While parents can expect this to be a typical Disney film, since there’s some mild sex- uality and profanity in parts (in addition to some drinking), parents may want to preview it.
