Back-to-School Scavenger Hunt

The beginning of a new school year can be exciting and a little scary for kids, especially if they don’t know the other children in their class. Send “new kid” jitters packing with a “What I Did on Summer Vacation” scavenger hunt. Prepare sheets ahead of time with these descriptions (add others to fit your class). Leave a blank signature line after each description.

1. Went to summer camp.
2. Attended vacation Bible school.
3. Played on a soccer team.
4. Played baseball.
5. Saw three movies.
6. Attended a family reunion.
7. Had a summer birthday.
8. Visited relatives.
9. Read five books.
10. Missed going to school.

In class, give each person a copy, set a timer for three minutes, and have each child find someone to sign for each category. No one may sign more than two categories on each sheet (unless you have fewer than five kids).

Please keep in mind that phone numbers, addresses, and prices are subject to change.
