Here’s your latest Keeping Current app and website review for November and December of 2018: Nick.
Nick is the webpage of Nickelodeon (the TV channel). With an extensive library of games, music, movies, and TV episodes, this website is popular among kids. Although most of the games are like the arcade variety, it’s also possible to find some that have educational value. Nick is easily accessible through desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. Some Nickelodeon shows are available for free, and others require a cable code for viewing.
One major concern of parents regarding Nick will be the plethora of ads on the website because many are inappropriate for kids or lead kids to websites like AddictingGames.com, which aren’t kid-friendly. Also, while Nick isn’t a new website, it’s worth mentioning that Nickelodeon is perpetually reinventing itself to attract kids’ interest and stay relevant to today’s current culture. That means parents and leaders are wise to pay attention to the topics the site covers—and be ready to talk with kids about them.
