7 Quotes for Memorial Day

According to, “The simplest thing you can do to explain and honor this holiday with your children is to spend time talking to them about what Memorial Day means to you. 3. “It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.” –
General George S. Patton

4. “This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.” – Elmer Davis

5.”We come, not to mourn our dead soldiers but to praise them.” – Francis A. Walker

I don't know Francis Walker, but that quote attributed to him sounds more like part of the "Friends, Romans, Countrymen…" soliloquy that Julius Caesar gave in Shakespeare's play of the same name. It's the same idea anyway. Thanks!
