Volunteer Notebook

Sandy Cope

Many people will volunteer to help, but they don't understand what kind of help is needed or what kids enjoy. So I've developed a notebook for these people to look through for help.

The notebook is filled with clippings from magazines, including Children's Ministry Magazine. I include Bible stories and object lessons that've worked well with kids, crafts that are tried and true, games, articles that've encouraged me, and a variety of ideas that've worked in different situations. Volunteers get proven materials that may even inspire other great ideas.

I simply keep a three-ring binder full of clear sheet protectors. Other people also cut out articles and photocopy ideas for the notebook.

Although helpful to volunteers, this has been a lifesaver for me when I'm asked to pull off an on-the-spot activity for kids.
