Prayer: Political Prayers

Print Friendly

With “Vote for Me” signs and posters beginning to pop up
everywhere we look, it’s no doubt kids know that election season is
right around the corner (November 4 this year). Use this time of
year to help kids pray for their government officials.

Our fourth-grade class talked about ways to bring peace and
justice to our community. Then they wrote letters to our governor
with their concerns about issues such as drug education and
enforcement, guns, and helping the poor.

The kids concluded their letters by saying they would pray for
the governor and his staff. We sent the letters, and the children
received a reply from the governor thanking them for their prayers.
They were thrilled, and they began to have a biblical and
experiential understanding of praying for authorities (1 Timothy 2:1-4).
