Elementary High Energy Game: Fruit of the Spirit Scramble

Use this exciting, high-energy game to teach the elementary-aged kids in your children’s ministry about the Fruit of the Spirit.

Elementary High Energy Game: Fruit Of The Spirit Scramble

Write the nine fruits of the Spirit on separate 3X5 cards. Make sure there are enough cards for each child to have one card. If you have less than nine children, some children may have more than one card. Add a symbol to each card to help non-readers, such as a heart for love or a balloon for joy.

Have kids sit in a circle of chairs that has one less chair than the number of participants. Give each child a card, quietly whispering the words to those who can’t read.

The child without a chair stands in the middle and calls out one of the fruits of the Spirit. Each child holding that fruit must vacate his or her chair and find another chair. The child in the middle must also find a chair. The child left without a chair stands in the middle and calls out the next fruit.

Every now and then, the caller may call out “Walk in the Spirit!” When this is called out, all the children quickly find new chairs. The child left standing calls out the next fruit.

When the game is over, collect the cards to be used again. Then read aloud Galatians 5:22-26 and discuss the fruits of the Spirit.
