Have children create Christmas gifts using this fun dough.
Before class, mix together 1 cup of baking soda, 1/2 cup of
cornstarch, several drops of food coloring, and 3/4 cup water.
You'll need to mix a batch for each color. Cook over medium heat
and stir constantly until the mixture solidifies. Don't overcook.
When the dough cools, knead it until smooth and pliable. Store in a
tightly covered container.
Have children shape the dough into beads of all shapes. Using a
toothpick, have them poke a hole through the center of each bead.
Help children make the hole large enough for a shoe string to fit
through. Then have children string the beads on the shoe
string.
Give children a container to hold their beaded jewelry until next
week when they'll be dry enough to take home.
