To prepare, fold a piece of construction paper in half, and cut out a simple, large fish shape. You’ll end up with two fish that you can tape together, leaving the mouth with a large opening. Next, cut out a felt stick-figure man that’ll fit easily inside the fish through the mouth opening.
Download a template of both the fish and Jonah figures.
With kids, put Jonah in the fish and say: Jonah was in the fish’s belly. Come out, Jonah! That fish spit out Jonah! (shake out Jonah)
Give each child a turn to hold the fish and shake out Jonah from the fish’s mouth as you repeat the phrases. Monitor to ensure Jonah doesn’t end up in anyone’s mouth.
