  • Offer choices. Stop making all the decisions. Let preteens help choose activities and topics for learning; this gives them ownership in their faith development.
  • Encourage. When kids have questions, encourage them to dig for answers. Provide tools — the Web, dictionaries — and guide kids as needed.
  • Support. Help preteens when they make poor choices by being understanding and empathetic. Remind them Jesus always loves them.
