Use this children’s message Balloon Faith to help children understand God’s forgiveness of sins.
• Theme: Forgiveness
• Text: 1 John 1:9
• Preparation: For each child, you’ll need one large red balloon and one medium yellow balloon. You’ll also need Scotch tape, a long pin, and a Bible.
• The Message: (Give a red balloon, a yellow balloon, and a piece of tape to each child.) Let’s imagine that this yellow balloon is our sin–the things we’ve done to disobey God or hurt other people. How do you feel when you sin? We’re going to see how God forgives and forgets our sin.
Insert the yellow balloon inside the red balloon, keeping both openings together. Inflate them at the same time. The red balloon represents Jesus’ blood. (Have kids stop inflating before the balloons get too large, and then show them how to tie off both balloons at once. Have each child carefully place a piece of tape on the red balloon.)
KidMin Conference is September 22-24, 2017 in Chicago. Featuring Max Lucado and Mark Batterson. Register BEFORE THIS SUNDAY, AUGUST 20, 2017 save $50!
Don't miss it! There will never be another one like this!
(Read the Scripture.) Now, let’s close our eyes and ask God to forgive our sin. (After children pray, help each child push the pin through the tape to pop the yellow balloon. The red balloon will stay inflated.)
What happened to the yellow balloon that represented our sin? How is the yellow balloon like our sin now that we’ve asked for forgiveness?
