9 Ways Children’s Ministers Are Just Like Kids

8

Let’s face it; if you’re in the children’s ministry world, you have a heart for kids. But there’s a good chance you have the heart of a child as well. Let me show you what I mean. Here are 9 ways children’s ministers are just like the kids they serve.

1. You love playing with the kids’ toys.

2. Your mind is easily blown.

3. You love high-fives (even when you’re by yourself).

4. You try to use kid-lingo (but it doesn’t always work).

5. You know how to gracefully disagree with others (say…at a church leadership meeting)

6. You tell kids to use the stairs properly, but when no one is looking, you’re this guy…

7. When you’re asked to do the announcements.

8. You get excited over all forms of freebies.

9. You think you can still play on the playground, but this is the reality:

If you enjoyed this, then you may enjoy these two takes on life in children’s ministry. Can you think of other ways we’re like kids? Share with us using the comment section below!

Children's Ministers are attracted to bright colours; feel comfortable in their company; listen to their preambles about school and friends.

Children’s ministers have a tendency to pick up odd things we find along the way just because they look cool (or would be great in an object lesson LOL) and put them in their pocket. At the end of the day it is amazing what you will find in a Kidz Pastors pocket, melted mini candy bar, Hot Wheels car missing a wheel, a disheveled and lost Happy Meal toy, uniquely shaped rocks, a sparkly pom pom that was our favorite color, or how about a (yes I admit to it) a Ziploc bag with the molted shell of a cicada bug and a small condiment container with a dead June Bug.

  4. I personally collect shells and different colour peebles at beaches in various countries and painstakingly bring them through flights. My daughter loves it too. Secretly I try the monkey bars and cringe when my arms are sore 😂.

  5. Sometimes you shout our something funny during a message…. hopefully only on the children’s area.
Summer camp plans involve some fun and crazy things you can not wait to do.
    Children’s Pastor cupcake day.
Snacks and treats may being you more joy than it does for the kids.
You’re having so much fun you just can’t take a break to go the bathroom….until you have to run.
